Yakima, one the leading roof rack manufacturers in the world, was looking for a clear plastic packaging insert for one of its products.
Multi-Hinged Design
The goal was to design a clear thermoformed container which would be inserted into a hanging cardboard package so that customers could easily see the two primary components of the products: two lock cores and two keys.
Design Requirements:
- Two Cavities with Friction Seals
- Three Hinges
An Integrated Package
Working with Yakima's packaging design team and cardboard supplier, Indepak's design engineers developed a thermoformed container which had the ability to display its contents on both the front and top of the package.
This innovative solution provided Yakima with more space for graphics while adhering to retailers goals of minimizing shelf-space.
Success
The combined efforts of the three teams yielded a package that not only stood out on the store shelf and clearly displayed the contents of the package, but also made the package more durable and helped protect the items from theft.
